❤️ How health works✕
Health runs 0–100 and is the game's only survival stat. Money can go deeply negative and you play on — but if health hits 0, the run ends. You start at 85. The only win is reaching age 90.
Every year-end, health drifts:
Broke (borrowed for basics, or deep in debt)
−4
Financially secure (and under 65)
+1
Age over 50
−2
Age over 65 (replaces the −2)
−3
Your yearly plan choices add up:
Wellness checkup kept / skipped
+5 / −3
Dental visit kept / skipped
+1 / −2
Gym membership
+2
Food tier normal / nice
+1 / +2
Trips (road → luxury)
+3 to +10
Fun spending $500+ / $1,000+
+1 / +3
Stadium tickets few / season
+1 / +2
Church donation
+1
Bar occasional / regular
+1 / −2
Casino occasional / regular
−1 / −3
No health insurance, ages 26–64
−2
Random life events also hit health (illness, stress, accidents — a few help). Low health feeds back: promotions need health above 55, raises and bonuses get rarer when it's low, and stress events fire more often.
The danger zone
At 20+, you never die by chance — only health reaching 0 ends a run. Below 20, each year rolls a (20 − health)% chance of death: health 19 → 1%, health 10 → 10%, health 1 → 19%.
The point
Longevity is purchasable. After 65 the drift alone bleeds −3/yr — retirees must buy health back (wellness, trips, gym, good food, fun) to reach 90. The $30 wellness checkup is deliberately the strongest lever: an 8-point swing per year.

🎮 MARGINS
This is your whole financial life, fast-forwarded. You're 15. From here to 90, you'll make one year's worth of money decisions at a time — and every choice compounds, for better or worse.
How it works
Each year you visit the buildings around the city — Bank, Brokerage, Hospital, Car Shop, and more — and decide: work or study, spend or save, insure or skip it. Then you hit Advance year → and life happens: a bill, a breakdown, a layoff, sometimes a windfall. You're a year older. Repeat, all the way to old age.
The goal
Grow your net worth and keep it standing all the way to age 90 — that's the only win in the game. Go broke, or let your health collapse to zero, and the run ends early.
Good to know
The buildings are where the money moves — that's where every real decision happens.
At 18 you pick a path — college, trade school, or straight to work — and it sets your whole income curve.
Cash sitting in Savings earns 0%. Money invested (Brokerage, Roth, HSA, 529) earns ~7%/yr. Idle cash quietly loses to inflation.
Debt isn't free, and the 22% unpaid-bill kind compounds hard against you — get ahead of it or it barely moves.
A want (a boat, a vacation) never puts you in debt — can't afford it, you skip it. A necessity (rent, food, a medical bill) always gets paid, even if that means borrowing.
Skip insurance to save a few bucks now, but one uninsured disaster can undo years of progress in a single year.
Health is a resource, not a footnote. Let it hit zero and it's game over — no matter your bank balance.

Decision
…
In the full game this opens the real decision panel. This demo is about look & feel: premium "tycoon"-style buildings, each one a detailed model sitting on its own square lot — driveways, cars, trees, signage, pipes, vents, rooftop units — clad in real photo-textures on a crisp isometric stage.
